Hello World!
Has this season of the NBA been exciting or what?! Both the Western and Eastern Conferences have really exciting teams to watch. Perhaps there is nothing more exciting than watching the All-Star weekend game in which the NBA's biggest stars are segregated into two teams made up of each conferences best players. The All-Star game will be played February 17th and it will feature Rajon Rondo, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, and Kevin Garnett for the Eastern Conference; while the Western Conference will feature Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin, and Dwight Howard. Each and every one of these players is having an amazing season but who is most deserving of the special MVP award this season? For some it might be too early to tell. Here are some candidates that really have a shot at winning the coveted title as the league's most valuable....
1. Carmelo Anthony (New York Knicks)
This season, the New York Knicks are one of the best teams in the eastern conference if you are going by record. Only the Miami Heat and Brooklyn Nets have ever usurped their position this year as the Eastern Conference's number one team. Many people would contribute the Knicks success to perennial All-Star Carmelo Anthony as he is having a really good statistical season. He is averaging 29 ppg, 6 rebounds, and 2.6 assts. His ability to shoot from the arc is deadly and he is also adept at making jump shots and being an amazing post player as well. These aren't unusual numbers for Anthony as he as always been a proficient scorer, but he is also an outstanding defensive player. If Anthony was to win the MVP award, I think it would be this year. This is by far his most promising season and we can continue to expect the Knicks to dominate on the court thanks to the strong play of Melo.
2. Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder)
It's no secret that Kevin Durant is a special player. He has one of the best three point shots in the league, he is averaging 29.9 ppg, 7 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game. The 6'11 small forward has been the NBA scoring champion ever since entering the league in 2007. Many people would argue that he should have won MVP last season as his scoring led to many many Thunder victories including a trip to the NBA finals. Durant is on pace to be the scoring champion again as the only other player matching his point totals per game is Carmelo Anthony. The Thunder also sport the best record in the league and are for sure poised to make another run at the title. It will be interesting to see how the rest of this NBA season turns out for OKC as they continue to improve as a team. So do I think Kevin Durant should be MVP this year? I think that this is definitely a year in which I think he surely deserves it..especially if the Thunder finish strong as number one team in the West.
3. LeBron James (Miami Heat)
Since LeBron's entrance into the league in 2003, the NBA has always regarded him as one of best players of all-time. His stellar athleticism. His physique. The fact that he has put up monster numbers ever since he first joined the Cleveland Cavaliers. All of it adds up to why LeBron James repeatedly earns a spot on the All-Star team and is once again a strong candidate for the MVP award though he has already won it 3 times. LeBron this season is averaging 26 ppg, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists. His individual success has been astounding this year as he also has raised his overall field goal percentage to 55% and he is indeed keeping the Heat in the top 5 teams in the east. So does King James deserve a fourth MVP award this year? I think this race for the coveted award is really tight. James, Durant, and Anthony are all deserving of it. It really is a toss up. So the answer is yes. If LeBron James can will his team into the late rounds of the playoffs once again, he has yet another legitimate shot at becoming the league's most valuable player.
4. Russell Westbrook (Oklahoma City Thunder)
Not too many people truly recognize how great of a year Russell Westbrook is having because it would seem all the attention goes to his teammate Kevin Durant. I didn't even realize how good he has been doing this year until I took a look at the stats. Westbrook is averaging 22 ppg, 5 rebounds, and 8 apg! These numbers are pretty fantastic and are by far the best amongst point guards in the league right now. Though Westbrook's stats surely prove that he is worthy of a place in the All-Stars, it doesnt necessarily prove he is MVP material. Many people would argue otherwise but the truth is that he isn't making as much noise as players such as James, Anthony, and Durant. Westbrook is certainly one of the best point guards in the league but do I honestly think he will win the award? Sadly no.
5. Chris Paul (Los Angeles Clippers)
LOB CITY!!! Who throws the alley-oop better than CP3? That's right. Nobody does. This man is an offensive maestro averaging 16 ppg and a whopping 9 apg! I am really excited for the Clippers this year. They have been playing outstanding basketball and their chemistry on the court is really what causes their success. Now whether or not Chris Paul will win MVP is a good question. Obviously the Clippers success hasn't been just because of the performance of Chris Paul. Though his presence on the court has helped tremendously, the Clipper bench is better than we have ever seen it. With standout players such as Eric Bledsoe, Ryan Hollins, and Jamal Crawford, this team has had an automatic lift over teams with weaker benches. This in my opinion is the best bench in the league. So my answer to if CP3 is the rightful MVP this year is no. Congrats Clipper nation on an amazing season so far!
Well that's it for today! If you have a prediction for who will be the winner dont be shy! Comment! Bye all!

Modesty
Hello World!
In today's blog I wanted to discuss something with meaning. Trust me I love talking about sports and other news but there is nothing that gives me more joy than to write on biblical topics. The topic I have chosen to talk about is modesty. What is it? Is it necessary for life and Godliness? What does immodesty look like? Does the Bible specify a particular code of dress? How can I best honor the Lord with the way I dress? These are all absolutely crucial and important questions to ask ourselves if we call ourselves Christians. So let's begin our discussion about modesty by asking ourselves what it means to be truly modest.
I. What is modesty?
When it comes to the topic of modesty, there seems to be a lot of controversy and confusion amongst believers as to what exactly it is. Some believe its about covering the body parts. Others believe its a heart attitude. Some believe both has their part to play in it. It has been said that no one can really give a definite clear answer on what it means and that it can mean a number of things to different people. For those who are truly confused about this issue and want a clear answer from Scripture regarding it, please check out 1 Timothy 2:9-10 which says, "Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and DISCREETLY, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness. A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness."
You may be wondering why I capitalized the word "discreetly". When I think of the word and what it means to be discreet, I generally think of trying to keep something a secret. When my dad tells me to be discreet when I walk out the front door to my house, he is really telling me not to announce my departure to the world. It is the same here in this verse. Paul writes and says "I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, but rather by means of good works, which is proper for women making a claim to godliness." By dressing discreetly, we basically are keeping a very special secret. We are hiding from the world what our bodies look like by covering ourselves with appropriate clothing. It's not really a difficult concept to understand. But for some it is hard to accept. It would seem that the culture we live in today would always tell you that less is more. It is very rare these days to find women that our appropriately covered. They are just simply not dressed discreetly. In fact they are dressed sensually. There are many different motives for why a woman would dress this way. Maybe its to attract men, maybe its because its the hot new style. But regardless of the motive, God's Word instructs women to dress discreetly and not to show off their bodies in a way that would cause men to lust after them physically. And there you have it. God's Word has defined modesty. Women are to cover their bodies and by their obedience and love for the Lord they will be most attractive to Him. Honestly ladies, this is all that matters...
II. Well what is immodest?
As a young man, I can definitely tell you what guys find hard to resist in general. Men aren't too hard to please. Most men will always find the uncovered chest areas, uncovered back, cleavage and breast areas, low back and legs irresistable. Its just the way it is. When 1 Timothy 2 says dress discreetly and modestly, it isn't because God wanted to just make up random rules. The Lord has made men to be very visual creatures. When women aren't covering their bodies and certain body parts are not being covered, it is a HUGE stumbling block to men. For me personally, it can be a very distracting sight when a girl is walking around in really short shorts. Shorts that expose the entire thigh. Girls might as well just wear their underwear in public that is how tiny these shorts are. I think most other men would identify with me on this and agree that this is not only something that is obviously immodest but it causes us to stumble and fall into lustful temptations. Another cause for lustful temptation is really tight see through shirts that hang low in the cleavage section. So if you are a normal man, women's breast area will always be an attractive thing. To say that men dont notice or look when a woman is displaying this area of her body is complete rubbish. God created these body parts on the woman for man's enjoyment. Anytime these body parts are on display, men will be looking. Now some men will have trouble admitting to this. Men don't want women to think that they are just immoral, lustful beings that cant stop staring at other women. Truth be told, men need to be more honest. It is absolutely neccessary to be truthful when asked if certain outfits cause them to lust. God wants women to dress discreetly because He cares for the purity of His people. It is hard for men to stay pure in the heart and mind when they are constantly being assualted by immodest dress. So what is the answer to this question? It is very difficult to say what exactly women should be wearing so that they can best be discreet in their dress. For me, if a girl is wearing pants or shorts that aren't showing the entire thigh and they are preferably at the knee, then I think that it would highly reduce the possibility of men lusting over her. Shirts that fit but don't display cleavage would also be a huge deal. Any kind of clothes that ascentuate the body in a way that could cause a man to lust should be considered as immodest and therefore not fitting for the Christian woman. Let the Christian woman be known for her inner beauty and modest dress, rather than by her body and how pretty she may be on the outside. At the end of the day, it is the Lord every woman should be trying to please with their dress. If a woman is dressing for any alterior motive, they are automatically in sin.
III. Men and Modesty
MEN. If you think that the message of modesty isn't for you, then you are sadly mistaken. The concept of modesty is a message for EVERYONE not just ladies. This issue with modesty really starts with us men. When we dont speak up and be honest about how the way women's dress can cause us to lust, we are just as at fault as the women who are wearing the sensual outfits! If we are young men, such as myself, we need to be constantly looking to encourage modesty and discourage lack of it. When we show special attention to girls who are wearing immodest clothing, not only does it encourage them to continue wearing immoral outfits but it discourages those special girls who actually are honoring the Lord! It is a horrible thing when I see this happening constantly. We as men are to pursue modest girls and we are to be disgusted when we see girls aren't dressed discreeetly and showing off their bodies. As fathers, I can already tell you that the Lord commands you to nurture your wives and daughters and help them to obey Him. If you are letting your wives and daughters walk around in immodest outfits causing other men to lust and stumble you are in sin! It is very important to the Lord that these issues are confronted in each and every household and that every woman will dress out of her love for the Lord.....Also...let us not think that we dont have to watch what we wear as well men. Let us not think that girls are incapable of lusting. Because they very much are capable and do lust all the time. In our culture today, it is very common for men to run around shirtless as if its not going to attract the attention of ladies. Ladies love looking at men shirtless, just as much as men love watching women run around in bikinis. Both are absolutely sensual and immodest. For me, I have always been careful when it comes to what I wear. I know that taking off my shirt could possibly cause a woman to lust after me and therefore sin. Therefore, because I care about the purity of the ladies around me and because the Lord wants all of us to conduct ourselves purely, I do not take off my shirt even when I am hanging out in the pool or on the beach. I would strongly suggest that if you are a man, you will keep this in mind when you are around the ladies. We as men need to care for their eyes and purity as well. Let this be a challenge to all men to be modest ourselves and to confront the immodesty around us for the sake of our King.
IV. The Heart Attitude
Back to the subject of motives. It is impossible to know the motives of the people around us. Only God knows and sees the complete truth behind why a person wears what they wear. But honestly speaking, the way we dress really is a reflection of our heart! We literally do wear our heart on the outside. Clothing is a very subtle way in which we express who we are as people. If you are a person who loves to wear short shorts on a regular basis or tight shirts that display cleavage, you are showing that you like to show off your body. That you want everyone to see just how hot you are. Now there are some girls who will wear clothes like this and this isn't exactly what their attitude indicates, but I think we all know that women care about the way they look. There is no way a woman wearing those kind of clothes looks in the mirror and says to herself "This isn't going to draw anyone's attention to me"......as for girls who wear clothes that cover the body, it definitely says two things about that girl. The first thing is that she cares for the Christian guys around her. She respects them because she is wearing clothes that aren't going to cause men to look at her in a way that dishonors the Lord. The men will look at her and not be attracted to her revealed skin but to her character and inner beauty. The second thing is that she wants to honor the Lord. She wants to dress appropriately and she really wants to be someone that is not respected and praised for the way her body looks, but instead she is praised for her inner beauty and apparent love for the Lord. The way you dress ladies, really says alot! And with this blog I want to encourage all the girls out there to always put the Lord first in your wardrobe! Modest is hottest!
And that my friends is all for today! God bless you all! My next blog can be expected tomorrow!

Ravens vs. 49ers
Hello World!
What an exciting weekend of playoffs in the NFL this last weekend! The San Fransico 49ers will be playing the Baltimore Ravens in New Orleans February 3rd! I know a lot of you probably have predicted who is going to win but honestly I think this game is a toss up between two really well coached teams. The Ravens coach John Harbaugh and the 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh will become the first two brothers to ever coach in the Super Bowl. In this post, I will cover what each team needs to do to win, which team is more talented, and then I shall predict the Super Bowl Champ!
So let's start with talking about how the Ravens can beat the 49ers. The 49ers offensively are a very solid running and passing team. Their ability to break off enormous runs of twenty plus yard runs is deadly and when it comes time to pass the football, this 49ers team has a potent attack. They are the number one team in the playoffs as far as total offense averaging a whopping 476 yards per game. The Ravens defense has a tough task ahead of them when it comes to slowing this team down but what the Ravens need to do in this game in order to beat the 49ers on the offensive side of the ball, they have to contain Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick is perhaps the most mobile quarterback in the league and is capable of breaking out for big runs. The danger in this strategy of keeping a spy on Kaepernick, the Ravens need to be careful not to let their concern over him, stop them from also containing Frank Gore. In the Falcons game this last weekend, Frank Gore scored two touchdowns on fake handoffs in which Kaepernick appeared as if he was gonna keep the ball. They will constantly run this fake to freeze the defense and this week Ray Lewis has to be very aware of who has the ball. The defense has to play disciplined solid defense if they are gonna have any hope of defeating the 49ers. On the other side, the 49ers defense is really going to have to work on defending the deep ball. Joe Flacco, though he is not the most accurate quarterback in the league, has one of the best arms in the league. The 49ers defense will have to be significantly better than they were this last weekend against the Falcons in which Julio Jones burned the secondary for two touchdowns. Torry Smith, a big, fast, physical receiver much like Jones is going to be looking to get open deep for the Ravens in this game and the secondary has got to be watching out for him at all times. The 49ers can easily beat the Ravens if they stay true to who they are as a team. Their defense ranked number two in the league this year and their offense has been the best since the beginning of the playoffs. The Ravens defense is stout against the run thanks to all-pro Haloti Ngata. If I was Jim Harbaugh, I'd be looking to throw the football and mix in sparratic runs with Frank Gore to keep the defense honest....or maybe I'd just keep doing what they are doing. Seems to be working well so far. As a hardcore Rams fan, I really hope that the Ravens will pull this one off, but honestly speaking I have a feeling the 49ers are gonna win this game. I suppose we will just have to see! Well that's it for today! Make sure to check out my next blog tomorrow. Bye everyone!

Hello hello!
Hello World!
Happy Sunday everyone! I hope that all of you are having an amazing day and hopefully a great day of worship. Today, just to keep my readers updated, it pleases me to tell you all that very soon my family and I are going to be moving back to the Antelope Valley. That's right! The place I was raised since I turned 5! Its been a rough few months and the Lord has brought about many trials..but I feel that these trials were brought along in my life so that my faith in the Lord would be strengthened even more! The Lord knows whats best at all times! One passage of Scripture that really encouraged me over and over again as the trials would come about was Romans 8:28...."All things work together for good for those who love Him" Keeping a heavenly perspective throughout these trials and recognizing the many many blessings that the Lord has given each and every one of us, really makes it harder to complain or get depressed about problems that life presents. The Lord is always in control. I hope this is a special encouragement to all who are going through things in their life. I will log off my blog with this verse, Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will keep your path straight." Bye everyone!

Its been too long
Hello World,
Its been way too long since my last blog and yes I am alive and well. Its been a rough situation for my family and I as we are living in a rental house that has some issues but we are so incredibly blessed by the Lord to be alive and healthy for the most part.I really challenge all of you, if any of you are going through trials to really see what blessings the Lord has given you. For sure, the blessing of life and breath. What about food? Shelter? Clothes on your back? Oh. And how about family? I think many of us in America also possess electronics and an abundance of possessions that make life really easy. This week I shall be in prayer for all believers that we will be content with what our mighty King has given us. He is sovereign and in control of all things and in that I put my comfort. Please do keep me in prayer everyone who reads this. Please pray that I will have a good attitude about whatever trial enters my life realizing that it is the Lord who allows it to happen. Have a great rest of the night everyone!

New Year
Hello World!
2013 is finally here! What an amazing, phenomenal year 2012 was. I learned so much last year. It feels like so much more responsibility has been thrust upon me and that the Lord has been preparing me for everything that has come my way so far. It definitely helps to have parents and great friends to help guide me along in the way that God has intended me to grow. This year I've also realized the importance of year round resolutions and this is what I intend to do. Always resolve to do the Lord's will and obey him at all times of the year. I hope that for everyone who read this blog, that this will be not only their New Year's resolution but their whole life's mission. My next blog can be expected tomorrow! Have a great rest of the afternoon everyone!

Prayer requests
Hello world!
Its December 26th and Christmas is over! I hope everyone had a very blessed holidays and I hope that New Years is just as amazing. December was a crazy month full of trials and tribulation but also much blessing. I believe that it is just as important to thank God for the blessings as it is to bring our trials before Him daily. Personally for me, its been very hard to establish devotions during the holiday season. It seems that whenever this time of year comes around it becomes super easy to forget all about the Lord and just neglect Him. Just because its the holidays doesn't give me any kind of excuse and therefore I am dedicated to finishing out the rest of this holiday season in the Word. A great passage of Scripture to read for those who are struggling just as I am would be Matthew 6:33.."But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."...The Word of God cannot be any more clear. If we are to live life the way God intended us to live, we mus learn to seek him first. Regardless of the time and season. Well I'm done for today, but you can expect my next blog on the 29th! Happy Holidays in Christ!
